The Treasure Island Homeless Development Initiative hosts or co-hosts various events throughout the year to support and celebrate this new San Francisco neighborhood. Here are some recent highlights as well as information about our Annual Fundraiser.
Annual Event 2017
Treasure Island Homeless Development Initiative hosted The Magic of Treasure Island, Celebrating an Island of Opportunity on October 19, 2017. During this event TIHDI honored the Treasure Island Development Authority Board & its members for its consistent leadership and support for an inclusive vision for Treasure Island that celebrates diversity and offers opportunity for all.
FREE TAX Site Creates Savings!
It was another successful year at the Treasure Island Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Tax Site! With the help of five trained volunteers, over 173 tax returns were prepared which yielded over $240,000 in tax refund.
Back to School 2017
Treasure Island Annual Back to School Backpack give-away was a huge success! We gave away over 130 backpacks to school age children - TK and above.
Construction Training Pilot Program
Treasure Island is underway of a massive redevelopment where 8,000 units of housing will be created, and 1,000’s of new jobs. In an effort to meet the demand of labor TIHDI has created a private / public partnership to design and implement a Construction Training Pilot program.
