TI Construction Job Opportunities
Working with CityBuild, TIHDI is recruiting and preparing the construction workforce to assist employers in meeting their 25% economically disadvantaged hiring goal. This is a tremendous opportunity to help people with barriers to employment obtain careers that pay living wages.
We offer:
Free OSHA 10 Hour Outreach Training for Construction Certifications
10-Hour outreach course covers specific OSHA standards and requirements as they apply to the construction industry and teaches safety awareness which helps in recognizing and reducing the risks of job site hazards. This interactive training is intended for entry level workers as an orientation and covers safety and health hazards workers may face on construction work sites. This course puts emphasis on hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention.
Construction Apprenticeship Research Workshop
Apprenticeship research workshop allows the participants to have a clear understanding of all the trades available and pre-requisites. Prior to entering apprenticeship Training, these workshops will help prepare participants to research and select 3-5 trades. The following topics will be addressed;
- Awareness of 45 apprenticeship trades & wages and contact information
- Application requirements and dates to apply
- Procedures for getting into an apprenticeship (Hunt method vs. List method)
One on One Job development and Placement Services
Independent time per student dedicated to developing a customized job development plan. We ensure that the hiring plan is successfully implemented.
- Monitor union choices and openings for application
- Employment opportunities in the City with subcontractors
- Provide updated list of subcontractors to solicit sponsorship letters
- Set up informational interviews
- Solicit "Sponsorship Letters" from employers to hire
- Referral to CityBuild for additional placement support
